Winter Session

Adaptive Movement for Hip & Knee Care

Frustrated with hip & knee pain and wondering how to keep active without making your joints feel worse? Join Joanne, a certified yoga therapist, for an adaptive class designed to help you strengthen and stabilize the muscles in the hip & leg chain and build core stability to place less pressure on the knees while reducing pain levels. In addition to learning how to move optimally, mindfulness and relaxation practices will also be included to help you with pain management. A small class size guarantees individual attention, support and problem-solving for your unique challenges. This class is suitable for those preparing for, recovering from, or trying to avoid joint replacement surgery.  Please note that if you are joining late in the session, we will pro-rate your registration for the remaining weeks.  Please send an email to info@andreasoosyoga.com to confirm your attendance.  Late payments may be made in person at the studio.

Winter Session

Friday Night Restorative Yoga

Enjoy a quiet refuge at the end of the week and rest in gentle poses with the support of bolsters, pillows, blankets and other props for prolonged periods of undisturbed silence. This practice is especially helpful for those dealing with sleep issues, chronic stress & fatigue, illness & injuries, anxiety & depression, or facing major life events. Registration is limited and required in advance. Please bring a large blanket and an eye pillow (also available to purchase at the studio).

Friday Night iRest Yoga Nidra

iRest Yoga Nidra is a relaxation practice which allows participants to lie down and rest deeply through guided meditation based on teachings from the yoga tradition and current research. It can be used to develop an inner resource to help navigate and transform negative emotions and thought patterns, calm the nervous system, and foster a deep capacity to meet life as it presents itself. iRest Yoga Nidra is especially effective in reducing stress, chronic pain, sleep issues, anxiety, and the effects of trauma and PTSD. Please bring a large blanket and an eye pillow (also available to purchase at the studio).

Yoga for Anxiety 4-Week Series

For those living with chronic stress & anxiety, yoga has been shown to be an effective adjunct to other prescribed therapies, and invites embodiment, or ‘feeling’ the body, which helps to redirect our attention away from narrative loops that can hijack our mind and elicit uncomfortable physical symptoms. This 4-week series will introduce soothing somatic practices, playful task-based movement, restorative poses, mindfulness and iRest Yoga Nidra to relieve tension, calm the nervous system and promote emotional balance. Learn practical skills you can incorporate into your daily life to help you pause, feel your body, and nourish peace of mind.

Get to Know Your Core and Pelvic Floor!

We hear lots about "core" and "pelvic floor" in the health & fitness world, but how many of us know exactly what these terms mean?  The pelvic floor is an important part of your core, and core and pelvic floor health is connected to the function of your body as a whole. Join Joanne to expand your understanding of “core strength” with basic anatomy of the core and pelvic floor, their relationships to the rest of the body, and simple exercises to improve these relationships and increase stability & mobility.
