Winter 2019 Session

Restorative Exercise 6-Week Series

Restorative Exercise encompasses all aspects of movement – frequency, habits, limitations and alignment – and puts the body on a grid to determine how we respond to the various loads and forces we’re constantly receiving and adapting to throughout our lifetime. In this series, we will practice ‘correctives’ or micro-movements to uncover deeply set tension patterns, strengthen weak spots, and help restore our body to a more natural way of moving. We will also discuss lifestyle changes that can support our movement outdoors and keep our body in a state of regeneration.

Date: Saturdays, January 19 to February 23
Time: 11:15 AM -12:15 PM
Teacher: Andrea Michaluk
Fee: $$150.00 + HST for 6-Week Series

Winter 2019 Session

Therapeutic Movement for Sciatica & Back Pain

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the human body, and is the neural connection between the spinal cord and the legs & feet. Irritation of this nerve through impingement or compression can result in shooting pain or numbness in legs and/or feet, as well as low back pain. In this workshop, we will examine the path of the sciatic nerve from the spinal cord through the pelvis to the legs and feet, learn how it connects the upper and lower body, and consider some of the ways this connection can be impeded. With easy movements to improve these relationships, you will enhance your mind-body connection and experience how improved function results in less pain and more mobility & stability.

Date: Saturday, February 2
Time: 1:00-4:00 PM
Teacher: Joanne Hudspith
Fee: $$75.00 + HST

Winter 2019 Session

Yoga for Chronic Stress & Anxiety 4-Week Series

For those living with chronic stress and anxiety, yoga has been shown to be an effective adjunct to other prescribed therapies, and invites ‘embodiment’ or feeling the body, which helps to redirect our attention towards body sensations and away from narrative loops that can hijack our mind and elicit uncomfortable physical symptoms. This 4-week series will introduce gentle movement, restorative poses, mindfulness practices, BodySensing and iRest Yoga Nidra to relieve tension, calm the nervous system and promote emotional balance. Learn practical skills you can incorporate into your daily life ‘little and often’ to quell worry and nourish peace of mind.

Date: Thursdays, February 7 to 28
Time: 5:45-7:15 PM
Teacher: Andrea Soos
Fee: $$120.00 + HST for 4-Week Series

Winter 2019 Session

Restorative Exercise for Healthy Feet

Our feet are the true foundation of our body and often receive the least amount of attention, care and movement. In this workshop, you will learn simple exercises to improve the strength and mobility of your feet, and examine how our footwear and our overall body alignment may be contributing to underused feet and unhealthy loads at the knee. Come for an afternoon of self-care for your feet and feel what it’s like to connect with the ground in a whole new way!

Date: Saturday, March 2
Time: 1:00-4:00 PM
Teacher: Andrea Michaluk
